nd server gone? suggest a new server

Shadow: I don't have a lot of legacy software to run fortunately, so I've not really been affected. That might be a problem if I ever want to try any old games, though. There's always DOSBox or virtualisation I guess. Windows Update *really* annoys me. A couple of months ago I left my machine for 10 minutes, and when I came back it had downloaded an update and rebooted itself - so I lost all of my unsaved work. That's just criminal in my opinion, and very poorly thought out.

Hah that's why I like Linux - it first asks you IF you want to install updates and then IF you want to restart.The whole Windows is made to torment users & easily earn cash.User calls for support and pays and again and again... Plus there was an update for XP that installs itself and acts as a spy - sending info to M$ Bill.
My advice is to DISABLE Windows update and get a Internet Security Suite(I have Zone Alarm Internet Security on my XP - but it's bad for memory and bluetooth)

And emulation is bad as it uses your CPU too much.An example - DOSBox on my Palm PDA with ARM CPU emulating x86 CPU in DOSBox performs as an 1MHz 186 machine - equals to almost useless.
Emulating x86 on x86 is fine though but multiboot is WAY better.

Ok, I added the check to see if the server is able to set-up the correct keybinds (by creating a dummy bind and checking for that... so it only verifies if the bind function is successful, not if the actual keybinds are there), that should fail in your ["=*dark*=Shai-Hulud"] case. I've set it to log only, so I can see how widespread the problem is. You could be kicked for it in the future ( )

I have added the Grappling Hook kill feature. One hit = dead, like Instagib And like Instagib it's quite hard to hit someone with the Grapple, so I think that's fair. The hit will be listed as a telefrag.

That's in CTF-Hypertraxx when you get killed by the moving "elevators"/transport boxes. Since there's no deathmessage for those things, it will make one up (consisting of the weapon your are holding and the player nearest to you or something.. anyway it's a bullshit message )

anyway... i hate hyper traxx what a stupid n00b map... anon says its an epic win XD

Rob: I can confirm that manually adding entries for "HookFire" fixed the problem - I can use the grapple again - thanks for your help (I didn't check !VOTE when I visited ND just now, though, so no update from y end for that yet).

Shai,try running the game in Windows 95/98 compatibility mode and see if it solves your problem.

It's a good idea - actually I had been until I was trying to figure out my grappling hook problem - I switched back to not using compatibility mode yesterday - I'll re-activate it and see whether that helps.

For both you guys, you might want to consider upgrading from v436 (you have installed the update, "[ZRYW]siren"?) to v451. Although it adds nothing new in particular for clients, just the fact that it's a change might make a difference.

436 is the newest official.451 is the newest unofficial and it's for servers.

Updated to 451, set compatibility back to "Windows 98/ME", and UT crashed after about an hour, rather than every 5 minutes, so that's an improvement anyway. Perhaps I just didn't do whatever it is that provokes the crash until after an hour, but with any luck it'll remain a relative rarity. It's annoying, but I can cope with 1 crash/hour.

Siren,just reinstall UT & apply patch v436 & bonus packs and it will work.

lol i lost the cd of UT before i install it .. so i just downloaded full version (v400) in LIMEWIRE .. -.-

On an unrelated note, mainly targeted at Sven: I've been in talks with someone. XConsole is now allowed, while still being able to block the hacked versions. Thanks (updating atm).
