but me and blub were playing with this guy named "imanoob" and he completely owned both of us
it was 2v1 and we lost 5-3

He doesn't even use rockets, shock combos and stuff...
Definitely a sign of aimbot...

Aimbotters can't do shock combos(too much) because the bot automatically changes their angle of firing - that's the easiest way to find out if someone is botting.Also they don't miss(they can miss sometimes just to trick you - they can switch the bot on and off).

Whoever uses any cheat is just dishonored!
There's another cheat which is "radar"... It's hard to tell unless you are very well hidden with the flag in 3 different locations and the person always happens to find you in no time...

Those have been around since day 1 In the old days I used to lay dormant (feign death) in a hidden place in Curse][ and waited for the person I suspected of using a radar to kill me; then I knew for sure. The easiest way to spot radars is when a person has a lot of lucky shots (e.g. killing someone as he/she comes around the corner -- anticipating the shot) or when a player always seems to find someone that is well hidden. But usually I just look for the telltale sign which is too many lucky shots.

Radars also work wonders on sniper servers where I suspect about 80% of the players on a given server use them (not kidding). I'm sure there are radar users on ND too, but as long as they don't give off the telltale signs (a.k.a. they are simply unskilled ) it can take a while before they are caught.

Most common cheats are:
+ Aimbot
+ Triggerbot
+ Radar
+ Speedhack

The last one hasn't been discussed yet: it's simply making UT run a tad faster so you can run faster and shoot faster than the other players. The following combination of anticheats when configured correctly, will catch almost all publicly available cheats:

UTPure
UTDC
AnthChecker

UTPure detects the old cheats written in UT's scripting language. UTDC detects external hook based cheats. These are programs that run independently of UT and "hijack" UT to inject their program code. AnthChecker verifies the integrity of UTPure, UTDC and other packages to ensure they haven't been modified. Without AnthChecker you can use hacked versions of UTPure and UTDC which no longer detect cheats, but allow you to play the server anyway.

The reason I do not run these is because all of them require all clients to use UTv436. Besides that, they are notorious (especially UTDC) for causing player crashes for a minority of players... basically blocking them out of the game entirely. So it's really a trade off. I've decided to manually detect cheaters and offer a place that Works 4 Everyone

I have a lot of what people call "Lucky shots"... But I go by the sound of their foot steps / xloc / hook / weapons shots / items picked up/ the sound emitted by the person jumping / getting shot...
Sometimes I simply make guess shots...
So people who play like me can be as "smart" as a radar... I know Shai relies on the sound a lot too... and it's useful... We can't play as good when our volume is low...
So I still think it's hard to know who's using radar and who's not... Some players kill "feign death" people from a guess... Even if it's a real corpse, they shoot at it anyway so it's scary to feign death on them... Also, some real death positions are not included in the "feign death" positions hahaha... I know them... I dunno exactly why but it becomes obvious if you play often and encounter a lot of people who use feign death... You know there's something weird with the corpse... or sometimes you just know it right away... Rarely, some "feign death" (depending where you do it) can look real to experts eyes until they try to step on it but can't... Then they know it's alive... Or when they have a rocket launcher and it goes on "target locked" mode when they are accidentally aiming the fake corpse... <--- That happened to me in far distance...
So it's hard again...
I'd say, if I hide so well in different locations and they find me right away (after making sure no one saw me / following me), then they use radar... Because they obviously didn't take their time to look around for me... They just always come and find me right away in different well hidden spots.
On ND, if we use the hook on some "unreachable areas that no one would expect a human being to be hanging there", well hidden, we don't even shoot or anything to reveal ourselves, like in Lavagiant when we hang in the sky... no one can know we're hidden up there unless:
1. We shoot at them and they try to look for us until they find us
2. They saw the little hook's light while we're trying to hang on the sky which helps them to know there's someone upthere
3. Someone is bored and wants to count the stars in the sky
How can we be sure it's radar or not? I think it's still hard...

IMHO cheats suck and it's the only way for n00bs to play against skilled players.
